SeOUL LOVE: Atlanta Indy Artist J’Da Prynce Revives Soul Music Across Asia
Prepares for Second Album, Heart Vs. Head, and Tour in 2015
January 11, 2015 – ATLANTA — Al Green…James Brown…the kings of Soul are gone, but not forgotten. For those who thought real soul music was dead, a new generation of artists, born at the dawn of the love era, are stepping to the throne and reviving the genre known for fusing rhythm and blues, gospel (and now Hip Hop and dance music) in a way new, young listeners around the globe can appreciate. But, if you really want to see the magic of American soul music truly being revived, Asia is the place to go to witness J’Da Prynce- The Entertainment Tailor.
An intrepid, independent artist, entertainer and soul music innovator, J’Da Prynce was born to entertain. Originally from Newark, New Jersey, J’Da, whose real name is Jeremy Johnson, was raised in the south where his struggle for survival has no doubt influenced much of the soul you hear in his music. Today, J’Da Prynce performs in ultra modern five-star hotels across Asia where he has spent the last two and a half years captivating new soul-loving audiences from Bangkok, Thailand to Seoul, South Korea.
Currently melting hearts and winning global fans in Bangkok, J’Da Prynce brings his hypnotic, high energy, show stopping soul performances to audiences nightly at the Spasso Restaurant and Bar-Grand Hyatt as the lead singer for HEAT, a wildly popular international cover band recently featured in Malaysia’s New Straits Times after amazing audiences at the Zeta Bar on the fifth floor of the Hilton Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. “I’m excited about the growing number of international fans. I feel encouraged that my brand of entertainment is reaching, and more importantly moving, people all over the world”, says J’Da, who lives by his personal mantra ‘Live, Laugh and Love’! “I aim to make each of these elements a part of my daily regimen.”
While living in Greensboro, NC, J’Da Prynce performed regularly with The Soul Brothers Band-The Ultimate James Brown Tribute Band, which performed at venues across the Southeast and landed a gig at The House of Blues in New Orleans, LA. In 2008, J’Da Prynce (under his birth name, Jeremy Johnson) released his debut studio album, Open-The RELEASE, which boasts of seventeen soulful tracks and received many accolades thanks in part to his hit single, “Where,” a favorite among soulful ballad lovers. After moving to Atlanta in 2009, J’Da started his own band, The J’Da Prynce Movement, a popular R&B group selected to perform at the Chozen Awards in 2011 and winners of the Delta Battle of the Bands Contest in 2012. Today, after nearly three years touring and performing with Heat, J’Da Prynce is preparing to take his international brand solo.
Heart Vs. Head – Since touring in Asia, J’Da Prynce has been hard at work on his second CD. This month, he is kicking off the Heart Vs. Head crowd-funding campaign. People around the world can get great perks and even become an associate producer when then help fund the project. “From mainstream music to social media, the world is filled with so much hatred and violence today. Many people have forgotten how to love themselves and each other”, says J’Da who admittedly struggled with his own self-identity at one time in his life. “I want to share my journey with the world as I believe my music will encourage listeners to find self-acceptance, in spite of what others may think.”
